Department for Foreign Trade and international Economic Relations
The main functions of the Department for Foreign Trade and International Economic Relations within the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia are:
- Participation in elaboration of the foreign-economic policy of the country;
- Cooperation with international organizations and regional entities;
- Cooperation with donors in the framework of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction (EDPRP) program;
- Elaboration of proposals for development of bilateral and multilateral trade relations;
- Analyses of country’s trade balance and elaboration of proposals for its improvement;
- Analysis of implementation of obligations taken through the international agreements and conventions, preparation of appropriate conclusions and proposals;
- Analysis of implementation of WTO commitments, preparation of proposals for trade legislation in order to be in line with WTO requirements;
- Analysis and evaluation of the international programs;
- Cooperation with European Structures and elaboration of proposals on country’s economic policy in line with EU requirements;
- Issue and confirmation of certificate of origin (form A); permission of export, import, re-export and transit of the double purpose goods; re-export of goods from Georgia produced in CIS countries.
