According to the Georgian legislation the tasks of the department of State Property Management Policy and privatization are:

• Preparation of an account about the privatization objects taken out on an auction and the terms of the auction.
• Presentation of an account concerning privatization of state properties (including bonds and shares), in accordance with the forms of privatization provided by the legislation and the established law.
• Preparation of an account about the forms and the conditions of privatization of the state properties (including bonds shares.)
• Coordination of territorial organ’s activities of the Ministry, including privatization and temporary transmissions of state properties; taking part in process the privatization of agricultural lands and the assets attached to them.
• In case if needed, in their own competence, presentation of statements concerning the changes in the capital regulations on the industries operating under partial control of the government; examination of the issues concerning the realization of the numerical properties on their balance. 
• Based on the acquired information, according to the law in force, preparation of offers concerning their delegation in the cases of privatization of state properties and the Ministry’s territorial organs.
• Preparation and examination of offers concerning the reorganization (division, mergence) privatization, bankruptcy, liquidation, legal loading of the properties operating under partial participation of the government (according to the corresponding normative acts established by the Minister.)  
• Preparation of offers concerning the governing of natural resources and forests in the margins of their own competence.
